Now at one with God and reunited with her beloved husband. Dina Bernardini passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2018. She was born on April 9, 1927, the only child of the late Ugolina and Gesualdo Del Chiaro, who had immigrated to San Francisco from Tuscany. Like many Italian-Americans of her generation, she was raised in San Francisco’s North Beach district.
She graduated from Galileo High School in 1945 after which she worked for several years at the American Express Company. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Elio (Al) Bernardini. She and Al enjoyed more than 68 years of marriage until Al’s passing in 2016. Dina was the mother of Donna Dillon (Tom), Denise Rundle (Chuck) and Diana Andreatta (Bob).
