Figli d-Italia carries on longtime traditions

Figli d’Italia, which means “Children of Italy,” will meet Nov. 10 for dinner and celebration of birthdays and anniversaries. Figli d’Italia is a social dinner club for area residents who are at least one-eighth Italian, but anyone is invited to attend. Once a month, the group gathers at the Sonora Elks Lodge to feast on Italian food, dance and socialize — continuing a Mother Lode tradition that dates back to the 1970s. The club was founded by Baci Frecceri, Charles Pesce, John Pesce Jr., and a few other Italians living in the area.

The dinner on Nov. 10 will include antipasto, roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, bread and butter and dessert. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Dinner costs $15 per person for non-members. For reservations or more information, call Serge Peluso at (209) 588-9445 or Rosie Walls at (209) 984-5672.
