A violinist in "The Italian Character" explains a unique approach to life that one might use to describe all 10 movies chosen for this year's San Diego Italian Film Festival.

"It's not so much about how it's supposed to be," the musician said. "It's really about passione."

Now in its eighth year, the San Diego Italian Film Festival will feature releases from the last 18 months, including many regional and U.S. premieres. The movies will be presented, with English subtitles, from Oct. 16-25 at three locations.
