In a career spanning six decades, onetime Tenafly resident Paul Sorvino has played cops, killers, the hot-wired dad to Romeo’s Juliet in Baz Luhrman’s over-the-top “Romeo + Juliet” and a chubby Dick Tracy villain with a big mouth — literally — opposite Warren Beatty and Al Pacino. At 79, he remains as active as ever, with the 2018 indie thriller “Beneath the Leaves” under his belt and five other projects in various stages of development and post-production.

As Sorvino learned last week, he is also a member of the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s “Class of 2019,” and will receive his coveted star at some point in the coming year. (Dedication ceremonies, set by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, have yet to be scheduled.) Perhaps best known for his film work, most notably as a gangster in Martin Scorsese’s “GoodFellas” and as Henry Kissinger in Oliver Stone’s “Nixon,” Sorvino’s star will also honor him for his stage work, on Broadway in “That Championship Season,” in musical theater productions (including “Most Happy Fella”) and as an opera singer, who has performed on stages around the country.
