Hazleton native Richard A. DiLiberto Jr., an attorney, has been selected by the Delaware County Christopher Columbus Monument Committee to be the guest speaker at the 63rd Columbus Wreath Placing Ceremony at the Columbus monument in Chester on Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m.
DiLiberto’s speech will focus on “Italian Heroes” including Columbus, Giovanni da Verrazzano and Delaware’s own Caesar Rodney, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. DiLiberto is a law partner at Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor LLP in Wilmington, Delaware, chairman of the Delaware Commission on Italian Heritage and Culture, a past president of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association, member of the Governor’s Magistrate Screening Committee, secretary of the Board of Directors of MMI Preparatory School, Freeland, and a Delaware state Representative from 1992 to 2002.
