On Saturday, Dec. 15, members of the Italian American Police Society of New Jersey helped to brighten the holidays for children at risk. The Italian American Police Society of New Jersey partnered with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Morris, Bergen and Passaic counties to provide toys, clothes and gifts for children who come from at risk families.
More than 300 guests attended this year's party at the American Legion Post No. 155 and enjoyed pizza and refreshments. The children were entertained by a face painter, police officers from New Jersey as well as a visit from "Batman." As always, Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance to hand out the gifts to the attendees.
"It is very gratifying for our members to host such an event. This year has been such a tough time for so many New Jersey families in the wake of the storm," said Society President William Schievella, who serves as the chief of detectives for the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
