Scholarships were awarded at the May 21 meeting of the Italian American Cultural Club, held at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville. There were six $1,000 scholarships presented with the club awarding five and the family of the late Craig Petrella awarding the other. The recipients were:
— Isabella Cashioli, in memory of Craig Petrella, presented by his sons Billy, Jay and Michael;
— Madelyn Yoho, in memory of Henry Giralico, presented by his wife, Doll Giralico;
— Joseph Zinno, in memory of Ramo Controguerra, presented by his wife, Gianna Controguerra;
— Angelina Piergallini, in memory of Dino Piergallini, presented by Doby Piergallini;
— Antonio Fuscardo, in memory of Sal Rinaldi, presented by his wife, Lillian Rinaldi; and
— Talia Balzano, in memory of Ruth Pastre, presented by her son, Rick Pastre.
