Centuries ago, Sicilian villagers gathered to celebrate and share food after the end of a drought and subsequent famine. Their prayers to St. Joseph had been answered. The spirit of that gathering is at the center of plans for the annual St. Joseph's Table event in Orland Park.
The event includes a free meal of pasta, salad, bread, desserts and beverages from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave. Guests are asked to bring a nonperishable item for the Orland Township Food and Pet Pantry.
