Craving Italian on Saturday and looking for somewhere or something different to try? Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield's South End is holding its annual Taste of Italy festival offering over 40 favorite Italian main and side dishes from which to select for dinner, as well as a dessert table overflowing with sweet treats.
The celebration, part of Italian Heritage Month, will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in the school auditorium on 36 Margaret St., after 4 p.m. Mass in the church on William Street. "It's like walking into one big party at someone's home filled with all the tastes, smells and colors of Italy, including Italian music playing in the background. You will see people of Italian descent, who may not have seen one another in a while, sharing a meal and some speaking in Italian," said Rosemarie Rueli Costa, chairperson of the event.
