Much like the team whose action he describes, Syracuse Crunch broadcaster Lukas Favale hungers for success. And oh, what an appetite he has. Favale showed off a palate that's as impressive as his pipes last week by winning the meatball eating contest at the Italian Fest at Clinton Square. Favale chowed down 10 meatballs in one minute.
"It's probably one of the best moments of my life,'' Favale recounted on Monday. "What a moment.'' Favale's triumph won a $500 donation to the Crunch foundation. Like any serious competitor, Favale practiced for the main event. He said a dry run earlier in the week primed his strategy of mushing the meatballs before he jammed them into his mouth. That made them easier to chew.
