Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli, regarded as fashion's forefront designer of the 1920s and '30s in Paris, was known for her bold aesthetic and exquisite workmanship. Her designs were heavily influenced by the surrealists, particularly Salvador Dalí, with whom she often collaborated. That relationship is the subject of "Dalí and Schiaparelli," which opens Wednesday at the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg.

The exhibit features haute couture gowns, accessories and jewelry, paintings, photos and more, as well as new designs by Bertrand Guyon for Maison Schiaparelli. The museum has teamed up with Dress for Success Tampa Bay to accept donations of new or gently used handbags, scarves, belts and jewelry during the entirety of the exhibit, which ends Jan. 14.
