Organizers of Abbeville’s Sicilian Festival are excited following a successful first year. The free cultural celebration was held Saturday at the Sam Guarino Blacksmith Shop Museum. Seven teams participating in the cook-off prepared Sicilian/Italian meals. Beverages, muffalettas, pizza, and ice cream were also sold.
Live music entertained the crowd. The first place winner of the cook-off was pleasantly surprised by the turnout. “This was the first Sicilian Festival. We didn’t really know if it would work, but it did. It really had a good turnout. Very happy to be apart of it. Couldn’t have asked for anything better,” said Johnny Files.
