The Italian Air Force detachment at Sheppard Air Force Base has a new commander after its current Italian Senior National Representative handed over his role to move on to his next chapter in life. After four years as the Italian Senior National Representative and Chief of the Italian detachment, Lieutenant Colonel Pier Luigi Del Vecchio is leaving Wichita Falls to move on to his next assignment.
As chief of the Italian detachment, he was responsible for all Italian airmen working for the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program, and as the IT SNR, he represented the Italian Air Force in the ENJJPT program. "I'm going to miss the flying portion because in Italy I don't think that I will be flying as often as I did here, and of course I will miss Texoma," said Lt. Col. Del Vecchio. "I will miss Wichita Falls. I felt like I was at home."
