One of the landmarks of Florence's artistic life is returning to its former glory. Set in the jewel of the Convent of the Santissima Annunziata, the Chapel of St. Luca or Cappella dei Pittori (Painters’ chapel) finally regains its original colors and forms thanks to a two-year restoration project. The imposing frescos by Giorgio Vasari, Santi di Ti...

Writing about Agostino Tassi concisely and without falling into immediate preconception is difficult, but it is also very interesting because the artist, the greatest quadraturist of the early Baroque, in this case is decidedly overpowering as a thug. Probably as a result of his conviction for a brawl, served in part on the grand ducal galleys, he...

Gian Maria Tosatti, born in Rome in 1980, is a visual artist, director and journalist. His research in the field of visual arts and their connection with architecture has led him to the creation of many projects and installations conceived for city spaces. He lives in Naples. A few days ago Gian Maria Tosatti presented his "Storia della notte e des...

A piece of news that once again binds the fortunes of Italy and the USA in the field of art, bounced a few weeks ago in the social media: the purchase, by the Getty Museum, of a work by Jacopo Bassano, il Miracolo delle quaglie (the Miracle of the Quails). A masterpiece, by the very definition of the Los Angeles museum, which announced its purchase...

It's a trend that started in the third decade of the 21st century and that we hope will become a habit: opening museum deposits. If in Rotterdam (Netherlands) a deposit has become a museum itself, attracting visitors from all over the world with a new formula, in Italy it has been decided to move the works of art by sending them to their places of...

After months of work, Galleria Corsini in Rome reopens to the public with a unique exhibition celebrating a perhaps little-known artist, Plautilla Bricci. A silent revolution: Plautilla Bricci painter and architect, curated by Yuri Primarosa, condenses for the first time the artist's entire graphic and pictorial production. Daughter of an artist, P...

Rimini, in the Emilia Romagna region, never ceases to amaze, and even less so does the church of Saint Agostino. The treasure chest of the fourteenth-century Rimini school of painting, where extraordinary cycles of frescoes disappeared for centuries reappeared only after the earthquake of 1916, forcing art historians to rewrite their pages, has rev...

In recent years, street art is manifesting new and very interesting trends, going to marry with the sport. It is in fact increasingly common that sports fields such as basketball or futsal become the great canvases for works of street art that reshape and redevelop urban areas often degraded to places of no interest. The fields are embellished with...

Siracusa in Sicily is certainly one of the Italian cities with more variety of historical and artistic finds of the whole Italy. From the rationalist architecture you can go back through the history of the place through its vestiges, up to the ancient Greek settlement that made it one of the most powerful and magnificent cities of the entire Magna...

In Rome, the rebirth of the art circuit is coming back in an attempt to leave the pandemic behind. In the Montesacro district, there is a museum dedicated to the union of art and music which, in the style of the Renaissance Wunderkammer, immerses people in an atmosphere that makes them travel outside of time. With the particularity, however, that a...

If we mention the name Rosario Candela, you probably wouldn't think of anyone in particular. Or, at least, only a few would recognize one of the great signatures of American architecture. He is, in fact, one of the main creators of the myth of the city of New York, whose history began in Sicily. Once again, therefore, we would like to talk about fa...

Something sinister is hovering over real estate Italian cultural assets which, even if privately owned, fail to remain within the scope of state property and are put up for sale without the Ministry of Culture apparently having any wiggle room. Two striking cases in a few months give a good example of the situation. The first one is Palazzo Sacchet...
