Two Italian brothers with a family history of baking have transferred their culinary skills from Sicily to San Jose. The Palermo pair, Marco and Giacomo Montevago, has opened the appropriately named Italian Brothers Bakery on a corner of West San Carlos Street and Meridian Avenue in the city’s evolving Midtown neighborhood.
Although the business is called a bakery, it’s also a rosticceria and cafe, Marco says, serving panini, pizza and pastries all day and into the evening. Before embarking on this enterprise, Marco had worked for Toto Trattoria in Morgan Hill and Paesano’s in San Jose’s Little Italy.
