By the week of Aug. 20, one of Woodstock’s great local business landmarks will change forever. After almost 35 years, Napoli Pizza will leave its store on Lake Avenue at Route 47 and move into the former Corner Grille building at Washington and Throop streets, just off Main Street.
For people who grew up in Woodstock since the ’80s or ’90s (this author included), it’s the end of an era – Napoli stands as the oldest-running locally owned pizza restaurant in Woodstock, with a small, well-worn, neon- and sports trophy-adorned shop to match. Small,” however, is the important word, and though owner Jim Baker says that a lot of people don’t like change – including him – it’s a change that had to happen.
