Mona's, the new "American-Italian joint" from restaurateur Brendan Marsden, opens for dinner today (October 19) at 5257 Shaw Avenue on the Hill. Mona's replaces Marsden's previous venture, Modesto, which closed in August after 15 years.

"It's definitely not Italian-American like what you'll find at the other restaurants on the Hill or St. Louis really," Marsden told Off the Menu last month. The food, he said, is "inspired by regional American cuisine but presented in an Italian way...."
