Lord Midas, the upscale Italian clothing store in downtown Des Moines, is now an outlet store. Owner Massimiliano Stanco will continue to offer men’s clothing, shoes and accessories at the store, but at a 50 to 70 percent discount. The store will be receiving discounted and out-of-season items from Stanco's Palm Beach, Florida, shop and from items he buys from manufacturers specifically for the outlet store.
Stanco, who has lived in Italy and New York, opened Lord Midas in 2015 at 513 Locust St. and sold clothing and shoe lines from Italian manufacturers and Stanco's designs from his own clothing company. Stanco struggled to find a local clientele and mainly catered to out-of-town visitors to the metro.
