Monica’s Pasta Shop is now open at 141 Richmond Street, on the Freedom Trail, and next to the longstanding Vinoteca di Monica. The homemade pasta story at Monica’s goes back to 1995 when Chef Jorge Mendoza Iturraide brought fresh pasta to the menu at the original Monica’s restaurant. Now, these pastas are available retail along with cheeses, meats, breads, prepared foods, soups, salads and other Italian products.

“I am excited to bring the new pasta shop to the North End,” said Mendoza. “We have been in the neighborhood for over 20 years since the original Monica’s and are looking forward to many years ahead with our latest store.” All of the pasta is hand-made with inventory changes daily. Pasta selections include: penne, bucatini, spaghetti, angel hair spaghetti, fettuccine (spinach, tomato, squid ink, plain), linguine, pappardelle, tagliatelle, rotini, gnocchi, lasagna sheets. For ravioli, the offerings are cheese, mushroom, chicken, pumpkin and prosciutto.
