Altamura's first planned home was humble. Jack Petronella of Manhattanjack wanted to create the kind of Italian restaurant he knew from New York. And he found a small house on Magazine Street to convert into a restaurant. But that location didn't work out.

Now Altamura's home will be grand: the Magnolia Mansion on the corner of Prytania Street and Jackson Avenue. "It fell into my lap," Petronella said.
