Chef and reality TV star Tim Love has announced plans to open a new Italian restaurant in Fort Worth. The chef announced the forthcoming debut of Gemelle, a “casual” Italian restaurant on Twitter, and filings with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts indicate that it will open at 4400 White Settlement Road in a space that once housed short-lived restaurant Thurber Mingus. According to Love, Gemelle takes its name from the Italian word for “twin girls,” and is a tribute to his 16-year-old twin daughters.
While Love is mostly known for his approach to Southwestern cuisine, Gemelle isn’t his first flirtation with Italian fare. In 2016, Love hosted an Italian-focused pop-up restaurant called Ufficio, and the chef has spoken at length about his interest in Italian cuisine, once saying in an interview that he frequently made Italian dishes and fresh pasta at home, finding the process “therapeutic.” As such, fresh pasta will have a prominent place on the menu at Gemelle, along with Detroit-style pizza.
