Where to go when you're in the mood for Italian food: Gerry Frank's picks

For an Italian-style meal, visit The Old Spaghetti Factory (0715 S.W. Bancroft St., Portland; 503-222-5375), successfully owned and operated by the Dussin family since 1969. Over the years, additional locations have opened all over America, but that never stopped them from creating quality food made from scratch onsite, using fresh ingredients whenever possible. Plus, they're one of the few places you can still get a three-course meal for a reasonable price.

No matter your entree choice - although I would recommend the jumbo crab ravioli, the popular mizithra cheese and browned butter spaghetti or their famous baked lasagna - your entree is accompanied by freshly baked bread, your choice of soup or salad as well as their signature spumoni ice cream to conclude. If you opt out of the three-course meal, the Sicilian garlic cheese bread makes for a great starter (served with housemade marinara).
