Some say that as you enter Palazzo Branciforte , in the bustling and mostly dilapidated heart of the city, it doesn't feel like you are in Palermo.

In fact, the historic aristocratic mansion restored in 2012 by architect Gae Aulenti for the Fondazione Banco di Sicilia is a microcosm of wonders, all beautifully organized and accessible, with a rich library, a valuable collection of archaeological finds, and even a cooking school and an elegant cafe with lush plants, all extremely well-kept, serviceable and flawless.
