An exhibition shows how contemporary art weaves into Missoni’s patchworks and “zig-zag” style

He could have been a champion in athletics, but he became the founder of one of the most innovative Italian fashion houses ever: Ottavio "Tai" Missoni, born in Dubrovnik in 1921, left his career in sports (he participated in the London Olympics in 1948) in 1953, when he married Rosita Jelmini, coming from a family that produced textiles in Golasecca, near Varese.

Together for over 60 years, until Ottavio's death in 2013, at 92, the two founded the Missoni fashion house, one of the world most-renowned, thanks to its patchworks and "zig-zag" style.
