Italian organic wine exports increased by 40% in 2016 compared to the previous year, reaching a market value of €192 million. The figures are from the Nomisma wine monitor research, conducted on the occasion of the Bio Wine Day, which was organised by the Italian Export Promotion Agency.
Overall, sales of Italian organic wine reached €275 million, up 34% on 2015. The domestic market, considering all channels, accounts for 30% of the total (€83 million, +22% compared to 2015). Some 21% of Italians consumed organic wine at least once in 2016, representing a 2% increase over the previous year.
