If Italy is Europe's "Cinderella" in terms of foreign direct investments (inflows account for 17% of GDP, compared to Europe's 42% and, outflows are 25% against Europe's 50%), Emilia-Romagna plays in the same league as Europe's main manufacturing regions: in sixth place according to the FDI Index ranking, and in second in Italy, following Lombardy according to Zephyr-Bureau van Dijk.
