A three-year-old girl has eaten autonomously for the first time after her esophagus was reconstructed by a team of surgeons at Turin's Regina Margherita pediatric hospital.
The little girl suffered from a congenital malformation - type A esophageal atresia. Before the groundbreaking surgery, the toddler was first fed through a nasogastric tube and then intravenously.
