The American Italian Sociohistorical Association 2nd St. Joseph’s Day Celebration Conference

Mar 27, 2017 550

The American Italian Socio-historical Association (AISA) has rescheduled its 2nd St. Joseph’s Day Celebration Conference this year for April 4, 2017 from 9:00am to 2:00pm to be held at the D'Angelo Center Room 128, St. John’s University.

It is a goal of the AISA to hold a special conference every year dealing with the Italian American experience in remembrance and in celebration of St. Joseph’s Day. The conference will present a sociohistorical assessment of Italian Americans.  Conference presenters include professionals from universities and colleges, and the Italian community with expertise in Italian American studies.

Our keynote speaker for this conference will be Dr. Vincenzo Milione from the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, City University of New York. He will be honored by the American Italian Sociohistorical Association for his outstanding work in Italian American studies.

The American Italian Sociohistorical Association will also be honoring the memory of our colleague and friend Dr. Lez Edmond for his lifetime work in human rights. His daughter Dr. LezAnne Edmond will be at the conference. Furthermore, the College of Professional Studies will be honoring Dr. Lez Edmond on another day at St. John’s University (more details about that day will be sent out in late March).

A light breakfast, lunch and Italian pastries will be served at the St. Joseph’s Day Celebration conference. If one plans to attend the conference, please contact Dr. Louis Gesualdi, Conference Chair as soon as possible at his email address [email protected] or telephone him at 718 990 6472.
