Four $3,000 scholarships are now available to future or current college students who reside in the state’s 1st State Senate District. The scholarships are limited to constituents who reside in a district represented by state senators and Assembly members who belong to the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators—Senator Ken LaValle being one of them. Eligibility is also based on student grade point average, interest in higher education, local community involvement, and level of financial need.
Anyone interested in obtaining a scholarship must file their application by Friday, April 14. Forms can be downloaded from Sen. LaValle’s website at lavalle.nysenate.gov. Those students selected to receive scholarships will be awarded at the annual Legislative Conference Day on Monday, June 5.
