The 70th Annual Columbus Day Dinner Dance Cotillion kept tradition alive Saturday evening at Guy’s Party Center. The Council of Italian American Societies of Summit County sponsored the elegant evening. This year’s debutantes were Sophia Rose Scarpitti of Stow-Munroe Falls High School, daughter of Mike and Carla Scarpitti; Mia Isabella Latine ofWalsh Jesuit High School, daughter of Michael and Marilyn Latine; and Isabella Rose Barb of St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Avon, daughter of Dr. Jasonand Michelle Barb.
This year’s gala chairs were Michelle Hujar and Tomasina Elavsky. The organization’s president is Harry Ciccolini. “We don’t want to lose sight of where we came from and that’s why this is so important,” Hujar said. Surprise awards were given to Vince Murdocco, presidential award, and Danny Zampelli, humanitarian award. Other award recipients were Ralph Paonessa, achievement; Eric Maghes, merit; Domenico Cornachione, merit; and Alessandra Donetelli-Boardman, Andrea Rose Teodosio Young Adult Award.
