Connecticut Italian American Bar Association fourth annual heritage & awards dinner

The Connecticut Italian American Bar Association's ("CIABA") Fourth Annual Heritage & Awards Dinner will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 6 PM at Aria in Prospect, Connecticut. CIABA is pleased to announce that this year's keynote speaker will be The Honorable Guido Calabresi, Senior Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Judge Calabresi, who is one of the truly towering figures in Connecticut's legal community, is a native of Milan, Italy.

His family left Milan for New Haven, Connecticut in 1939. A graduate of Yale University, Oxford, and Yale University School of Law (from which he graduated first in his class), Judge Calabresi subsequently served as a Selectman for the Town of Woodbridge, a professor at Yale Law School, and the Dean of Yale Law School from 1985 to 1994, before being appointed in 1994 by President Bill Clinton to sit on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He is considered a pioneer in the field of law and economics, has authored four books and over 100 scholarly articles, and has been awarded over 40 honorary degrees from universities throughout the world.


The title of his speech to CIABA will be: "Some Thoughts on Federalism: American and Italian Experiences." This event is completely open to lawyers and non-lawyers alike. CIABA, founded in 1993 by Connecticut Superior Court Judge Richard M. Marano, is the leading voice of Connecticut's Italian-American legal community. It has nearly 150 attorney members from throughout the state of Connecticut, representing a wide variety of legal specialties. It is an official affiliate of the National Italian American Bar Association, and has been designated by the Connecticut Bar Association as an "Affinity Bar."
