In a nod to its new Roman headquarters at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, Fendi will unveil at Design Miaminext month furniture pieces originally designed by Milanese architect Guglielmo Ulrich and conceived seven decades ago, but never actually produced. Fendi has dubbed the project "The other half of the dream. Roma 1940-2015."
The designs were meant to furnish the stately and imposing buildings, which are part of the Esposizione Universale Roma district built for the 1942 World's Fair, which never took place because of World War II. In October, Fendi presented its new offices and exhibition space at the 205,200-square-foot travertine marble palazzo, designed in 1937, part of the EUR and also known as the Square Colosseum because of its six stories of symmetrical arches.
