Portland has become well-known as a destination on the national food-and-wine map. Widely regarded as the seminal home of farm-to-table cuisine, it has in the past 20 years earned a reputation for creative fine dining that far exceeds the size of the metropolis.
That culinary scene has since spread beyond Portland, from Eugene to Bend, from Ashland to the Oregon Coast. Many of this state's finest chefs have even settled in such off-the-beaten-path outposts as Dayton, Talent and Depoe Bay. And their restaurants assure travelers, whether on the road for business or pleasure, that they are never far from outstanding food.
