With two new pizza joints appearing in the last two months, it’s tough to argue that Boise is hurting for places to grab a slice. But a new Italian restaurant? That’s an offer we can’t refuse. Vincenzo Trattoria plans to open in early March at 6970 W. State St., according to chef and manager Vincenzo Nicoletta. The 2,241-square foot space at Northgate Shopping Center used to be Jades Chopstick, which closed recently.
For diners unfamiliar with the term “trattoria,” Nicoletta, who was born in Italy, translates it like this: “A casual dining experience for those who enjoy authentic food at a reasonable price. A construction permit was issued in January, according to research provided by online remodeling marketplace BuildZoom. Improvements are slated to include upgraded kitchen equipment, the removal of built-in booths and, yep — the addition of a free-standing pizza oven. The oven will bake tempting-sounding selections such as panuozzo (folded, stuffed pizza, $12.95) and rachetta (a racket-shaped pizza with a stuffed handle, $13.95).
