The newest chapter of UNICO National in Delaware, the Delmarva Chapter, held a meeting at the home of president David Jones and wife Christine on March 12.
The chapter, chartered in November 2012 at an installation dinner at Ristorante Luca in Millsboro, was attended by national officers from California, Connecticut and New Jersey and by local officers and members. This new chapter was sponsored by the Rehoboth Area Chapter and also that of Point Pleasant, N.J.
Hosts David and Christine prepared an excellent gourmet Italian meal, which also featured animated conversation and planning for the future of the group. Members are residents of Lewes, Millsboro, Bethany Beach, Ocean City, Md., and beyond.
Plans were made for upcoming events and fundraisers: a bocce tournament in June and a trip to Eataly in New York City in the fall.
Those interested can join UNICO, the oldest Italian-American service organization in the United States at 91, by calling Maria Teresa at 302-226-0620. The next meeting is Tuesday, April 16.
