The Italian opera "Don Giovanni," with music written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, had a crowded opening night in Crafton-Preyer Theatre Friday, April 21. The opera was the final show of this season for University Theatre.
The opera tells the tale of the despicable womanizer Don Giovanni, who was played by actor Carey Eugene Wilson. Giovanni is a character based off of the legend of Don Juan and his attempts to woo women. The audience soon figures out that these acts of seduction are really just sexual assaults — or at least attempted ones. He often tries to trick women by asking them to marry him, or saying that he is deeply in love with them, only to leave a few days later.
