Sam Smith and his songwriting partner Jimmy Napes received the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song tonight for "Writing's On The Wall," their theme for the final Daniel Craig James Bond film Spectre. The award was presented by Katy Perry, and the other nominees were Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do" from 50 Shades Of Grey, Brian Wilson's "One Kind Of Love" from Love & Mercy, Wiz Khalifa and Stereogum fave Charlie Puth's "See You Again" from Furious 7, and Sumi Jo's "Simple Song No. 3″ from Youth.

Earlier in the evening, legendary composer Ennio Morricone won Best Original Score for his work on Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, his first score for a Western film in over four decades, beating out Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto's score for The Revenant, Carter Burwell's score for Carol, Alexandre Desplat's score for The Danish Girl, and Daniel Pemberton's score for Steve Jobs. The award was presented by Jamie Foxx and Lily James and accepted by Tarantino on Morricone's behalf, as the composer himself was not in attendance. And in non-music but music-adjacent Golden Globes news, Lady Gaga took home the trophy for Best Actress In A Limited Series Or TV Movie for her role on American Horror Story: Hotel.
