Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco has made a deal with Lionsgate to develop a multi-generational comedy he will cowrote as a starring vehicle. Maniscalco is teaming on the script with Austen Earl (The Great Indoors). It will be inspired by Maniscalco’s stage routines, which touch on his Italian American family. The aim is for an Italian-flavored My Big Fat Greek Wedding-type comedy.
The story follows two families from different worlds as they look to celebrate their first summer holiday together. Maniscalco will be executive producer. Maniscalco recently completed his first movie roles, in the Martin Scorsese-directed The Irishman for Netflix, and in the Viggo Mortensen-starrer Green Book.
