As a superbly trained and deeply committed teacher of the Italian language, Kelly Matthews won the Midwest Award for Leadership in the Teaching of Italian Language and Culture, sponsored by the Italian Consulate. The primary element of her winning application had to do with the way that her Italian classes are involved in the community, evidenced by her Italian Festival Projects.
Kelly was awarded a 2-week language course for teachers and will be hosted by a local family. Many of her expenses in Italy are covered but we would like to add our travel support if she is to take full advantage of this learning opportunity that will add to her skillset and make her an even more effective teacher.
