Stanley Tucci discusses career at Sarasota Film Festival

To close out this year, Sarasota Film Festival had one of its most famous frequent visitors speak at length about his career. Oscar-nominated actor and director Stanley Tucci, who has attended the festival numerous times including Saturday’s closing ceremony, participated in an hourlong conversation Sunday at Florida Studio Theatre. David Edelstein, the New York Magazine and Fresh Air film critic who served on this year’s narrative feature jury, served as moderator.

Edelstein highlighted Tucci’s role as mobster Rick Pinzolo on the television show “Wiseguy” as a turning point in his career. Tucci said it was his biggest role to that point and one in which he made an artistic choice to avoid playing him as another coarse Italian gangster.
