Wegmans supermarket chain arrives in Sicily to know Sicilian products: 8 buyers meet companies of the "Gustoso" business network. "Gustoso" opens a store at the Grand Hotel Villa Igea

The 14 companies of the Gustoso Sicilian Food Excellence network - Molini Riggi, Bruno Ribadi Brewery, Made Fruit, Marullo srl, Tonnino Winery, Gustibus Alimentari, Miscela D'Oro, Asaro, Pannitteri, Valle del Dittaino, Olive di Sicilia, Sabadì, Caffo Distillery, Chioccilia - from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th April will have the opportunity to meet 8 buyers from the US supermarket chain Wegmans.

The buyers will visit the companies located in various areas of Sicily and will choose the products to be introduced in the 95 Wegmans stores in the United States: 46 in New York, 17 in Pennsylvania, 9 in New Jersey, 10 in Virginia, 8 in Maryland and 5 in Massachusetts.

This represent a very important initiative to create a channel for Sicilian products in the US distribution network that will also be supported by an initiative of promotion and marketing for Sicilian products programmed within their 95 supermarkets. Wegmans will schedule the "Gustoso" month in which Sicilian cuisine and tradition will be celebrated by showcasing the Sicilian products on gastronomy’s counters, restaurants and tastings.

The buyer visit to Sicily is a prerequisite for the insertion of counter products for October 2018, following the arrival of the product, the training of staff and the development of a marketing plan.

In these days the "Gustoso" store was inaugurated in the historic and prestigious Grand Hotel Villa Igea in Palermo, a space dedicated to tourists, especially foreigners, who will be able to take home the tastes and products of excellence of the Sicilian food and wine.

In recent days, companies of the Gustoso Sicilian Food Excellence network have had the opportunity to exhibit their products in Tokyo at the "Wine & Gourmet Japan 2018" at the Sicilian Region stand. They will also be present at the Cibus, International Food Exhibition in Parma from May 7th to May 10th and in Bangkok at "Thaifex - World of Food Asia" from May 29th to June 2nd

We want to promote – says Daniele Cipollina, President of the Gustoso Sicilian Food Excellence network - these educational with US buyers to allow them to learn more about the products that will be offered on the counter, about the companies and the experiences of their management. Four intense days that will also allow them to taste dishes of Sicilian cuisine prepared by the best chefs of the Region in the best restaurants, to understand how important it is to preserve the original recipes of Sicilian cuisine from the use of food from other countries".
