This concert, brings well-deserved attention to Barbara Strozzi (1619-1677), a famed soprano, but first and foremost, one of the most prolific composers of her time. In honor of the 400th anniversary of her birth, Salon Sanctuary Concerts draws from the only sacred volume from her prolific compositional output, I Sacri Musicali Affetti, commissioned by a female patron and featuring motets dedicated mostly to female saints.
