The ICI Italian Film Series is Back!

2018 ICI Film Series Presented by Dr. Gus Mastri (April 4, April 11, April 18) - Chao Auditorium, Ekstrom Library at the University of Louisville - 2215 S 3rd St - Louisville, KY 40208. Dr. Mastri will once again present the ICI film series, with the first installment starting next Wednesday, April 4. This year's films touch on themes of immigration to and from Italy, both in the past and during the present day.

All film viewings will be held in the Chao Auditorium. Refreshments of coffee and cookies will start at 6:30 pm, and Dr. Mastri will begin commentary and the film at 7 pm. All events are free, though we'd appreciate if you RSVP through the website so we can approximate headcount. April 4: "Golden Door" (2006): Directed by Emanuele Crialese. "A 2006 drama film based on a family's migration from Italy to New York City, U.S.A. at the beginning of the 20th century."

April 11: "Fuocoammare" (2016): Directed by Gianfranco Rosi. "Capturing life on the Italian island of Lampedusa, a frontline in the European migrant crisis."

April 18: "Il vento fa il suo giro" (2005): Directed by Giorgio Diritti. "The aging, conservative population of a small, sleepy village in the Italian Alps are surprised to see that a former French professor has settled there with his young wife and their three children to produce goat cheese, in order to escape the wrongs of civilization."
