Established in Rome, Saint Camillus International University of Health and Medical Sciences (UniCamillus) is a University which represents a unique opportunity for those Americans who want to get to know an important part of Italy and to rediscover their distant origins.

UniCamillus obtained full recognition from the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research on November 28, 2017 and opens the enrollment to the degree courses of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery for the academic year 2018/19. The training offer is aimed particularly at young non-EU citizens, but EU students who demonstrate a professional and scientific interest in health issues such as, for example, Malaria, TBC and AIDS, which still afflict relevant parts of the south of the globe, will also be able to apply for the selection tests.

The courses are mainly in English and cover a wide range of health professions: Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery and five three-year degree courses in Nursing, Midwife, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, as well as Radiology Tech.

All courses include lectures that pay special attention to medical issues and diseases typical of developing countries, as well as to the respect for cultural, ethnic, generational and sex differences, traumas suffered in war zones, the ability to fit into the relevant work environments not only at the national and European level, but also especially in developing countries.

The Master’s Degree course in Medicine and Surgery, in particular, offers scientific and theoretical-practical bases to cope with many of the shortcomings of the specialized professional figures of the countries of the Southern Hemisphere.

In line with the humanitarian mission of UniCamillus, emphasis will be given to the interdisciplinarity of Medicine during course lectures, with an approach strongly oriented to the patient's humanity, by paying particular attention to the relational, cultural, educational, and social aspects involved in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease, as well as in the rehabilitation and recovery process of the highest degree of psychophysical well-being possible.

Consistently, the research activity focuses on the "emergencies" of developing countries, such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria without neglecting the so-called Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). The World Health Organization has defined a group of chronic diseases afflicting more than a billion people worldwide, most of which are located in areas of Saharan Africa. The NTDs, in addition to negatively impact people's health, contribute to fuel the cycle of poverty which afflicts these areas.

UniCamillus is a concrete and independent solution to the need to improve access to healthcare worldwide and results from a project together with a strong and conscious vision. UniCamillus, a University of science, love and charity to help the world.
