What's up with WTI: Editorial # 90
- WTI Magazine #90 Apr 14, 2017
Ciao from Rome! Even if I'm a bit late, Happy Easter! Are you still eating chocolate eggs and Easter dove cakes? Remember, in Italy every holiday has its own sweet (actually, often more than one).
I came back after a week of very interesting meetings in New York and Connecticut, and after attending the NIAF New York Spring Gala. Our friends at NIAF organized another gorgeous event, celebrating Italy in the US and the wonderful outcome that the two most beautiful countries in the world generate when they get together.
We also want to congratulate our friends Patricia de Stacy Harrison and Gabe Battista, new NIAF co-chairpersons. I'm sure that Patricia and Gabe will do a wonderful job, as always NIAF has done through these years. We the Italians will be at their side, as well as we are with the other National Organizations that represent the amazing Italian American community.
We are working hard with the Regione Lazio institution to close the deal to use the funds raised by UNICO and by the Italian American Museum of New York. The city that will profit from the donations collected among the Italian Americans by these two wonderful institution is Accumoli. There's a sad, terrible but educational 360 degrees video about how hard the earthquake struck there, but it shows very well how important will be using these funds to help a little bit the people who belong to this territory to stay, or come back, and rebuild the parts of the city that were destroyed. Please take a look, but be aware it is not a nice easy video to watch.
As previously said, the new book is out. At the beginning of every year we will publish a yearbook about the year before, and so this is the We the Italians 2016 yearbook: with all the interviews done, both in English and Italian. It is a useful tool to know more about Italy and the US and also to learn or refresh the knowledge of our wonderful Italian language. It can be bought and/or donated here.
That’s all for now. So stay tuned, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride. The future’s so bright, we gotta wear shades!
