The Consulate General of Italy in New York has initiated the procedure for the appointment of a new Honorary Consul with jurisdiction over the following counties of the State of New Jersey counties of the State of New Jersey (Bergen, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, Warren, Essex, Middlesex, Monmouth, Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset).
The Honorary Consulate, which will work under the authority of the Consulate General in New York, will be called to carry out functions of assistance to fellow countrymen and protection of Italian interests in the territory of competence. The assignment is honorary and free of charge and does not imply the activation of any relationship of public employment or subordinate work with the Consulate General of Italy in New York nor with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The expenses for the functioning of the Honorary Consular Office are to be borne by the holder of the Office itself, with the exception of the reimbursements provided for some categories of expenses, in particular postal and telephone expenses and those for subsidies to compatriots.
