Former state Sen. Billy Ciotto has won many awards during his long life, but now he has one named after himself. Ciotto this week became the first recipient of the Biagio "Billy'' Ciotto Public Service Award, which will be presented every year now that its namesake has received the honor.
Ciotto and his friends gathered at a meeting of the Rocky Hill Democratic Town Committee for the inaugural award. "Isn’t that amazing at 90?'' Ciotto asked, noting that he will turn 90 on Christmas Day. "I love public service. I’m proud of that.' Despite having some health issues lately, Ciotto says, "I’m bouncing back.''
