Should South Medford be designated an Italian-American Historic District?

Could South Medford receive a historic district designation focusing on its Italian-American heritage? It's something two Medford officials are proposing. City Council President Richard Caraviello and Vice President Adam Knight on April 13 introduced a proposal for the Historic District Commission to study the idea.

“South Medford was a very vibrant Italian-American neighborhood,” Knight said. “It’s important we remember the roots of that neighborhood. This is a chance to capitalize on great history in Medford,” that might be documented through educational plaques and storyboards.
