Sausage and peppers were hot on the grill and dozens of other Italian favorites were being cooked up at the St. Mary’s Feast in Cranston on Saturday. "The food's good yeah, pizza, doughboys," said James Deshaies, an attendee at the feast. Some couldn't wait to hit the carnival. "I want to go on the rides and get prizes," said Nayela Brodeur, another person enjoying the festivities.
The church feast has been happening in Knightsville for 118 years. "I grew up coming," said Jessica Messier. "It's a traditional thing, an Italian feast," Deshaies said. Around 100,000 people are expected to show up for the four-day event that closes off parts of Phenix Ave. Sunday is expected to big day too.
