March 20 (Tuesday) 6:30 pm - Aging Gracefully: Restoring Carpaccio's Saint Ursula Cycle. Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò, New York University, 24 West 12th Street, Manhattan
A lecture by Melissa Conn, Director Venice Office, Save Venice Inc. How to best care for Carpaccio's princess bride has occupied conservation professionals for nearly 500 years, from the first documented restoration treatment in 1521, to Save Venice's current conservation efforts. Now housed in the Accademia Galleries, this 15th-century narrative cycle of nine canvases suffers from condition problems that have hindered its legibility for centuries. In English. In collaboration with Save Venice.
Admission: General RSVP; Member Seat Reservation. Contact: 212-998-8739. Casa Italiana programming is subject to change. For updates please visit www.casaitaliananyu.org
